Ok, maybe that title is a little misleading, but that doesn't mean I didn't think it's what was happening at 3:30am!! Let's back up. So, Brandon went to Italy for 3 days for work. I'm on nightshift so I'm not usually asleep all night, but I did sleep last night. My MIL Beth is visiting and staying in the guest bedroom next to the triplets room.
So there's our setup, and when I heard someone rumbling around upstairs at 3:30am this morning I panicked. I mean I'd like to think I'm basically a criminal minds/SVU detective. So, naturally I immediately assumed someone broke in to rob and kill us all, #duh. I waited for a few minutes to see if it was just outside (my bedroom window was open), if it was Beth (the guest bathroom is next to my bedroom), or if it was coming from the triplets monitor. I quickly said no, no and no.
Now I'm running through straight up hand-to-hand combat plans in my head. "I'll grab the flash light, catch him in their room, blind him and then just beat him to death" (😂😂)
"I'll just scare him, he'll fall, and then I'll just kick him in the head."
And of course, I mean I did grow up with Jeff Gasser as my father, I thought "if he has a child, I'll just shove my fingers in his eyes until I feel squishy macaroni, he'll drop the kid and we will all just run." (Right? Because I have such success herding cards and getting them to independently walk from the house to the car everyday for school, so surely they'll run out of their room in a sleepy stupor and follow all verbal directions I give...)
Y'all. I'm a professional panicker. PROFESSIONAL. Oh, and like I said- Elliot Stabler taught me everything I know.
So, I make the grand decision to get up. And in my mind I'm playing some super suspenseful action movie song, to make it all the more intense. The strange thing? Every hall door was closed. And the only doors I close at night are Stella's and the triplets. But, my door, the hall bathroom, the guest room...all pulled and latched close.
I see a light coming from under the triplets door and I go straight up mamma-bear "oh no he isn't messin' wit my kids!"-Huffy and march in there (Still completely under the impression someone broke in, naturally) and was confronted with two sleeping girls still in their beds (the wrong beds- but beds nonetheless). So, I turn off the light and shut the door again, completely confused as to what's happening. And then I hear crying.
I go sprinting downstairs and find Jack, sitting alone in the shut gate of the kitchen in the complete dark.
I have no explanation. I ran around the house, everything was shut and locked still. I scoop him up, he stops crying and looks at me bewildered and then laughs and says, "hi mommy!" And as we pass the potties walking up the steps repeats, "no pee pee in pants!" 😂😂
Needless to say I earned a bed buddy until morning. Oh, and we may have a sleep walker on our hands. 😳
