Day 3 in BabyLand

Our awesome little fighters were born 3 days ago. I can't even believe I've been not pregnant for 3 days. It's the strangest. But, just wanted to update on what it's like for our littles in the NICU. They are on strict "hands-on"/feed schedules which is awesome. Olivia was originally in a separate room than Jack and Clara, but last night she was moved in with them! Now all our babies are together. This is how they schedule their hands on care so we can participate with them all as much as possible:

Olivia: 11am starts care (change diaper, take temperature, & give breast milk through feeding tube in mouth), then we cuddle for 20-25mins.

Jack: starts care 30mins after Liv with the same routine

Clara: starts 30mins after Jack with the same routine.

Today the babes increased their feedings from 4cc every 4hrs to 8cc every 3hrs!! They're getting so good at tolerating the breast milk, I just hope I can keep up with the demand! Come on milk...Start flowing!!!!

So, this morning I woke up and pumped, ate breakfast, took a shower, and pumped again. Then Brandon and I made our way to the NICU in time for their 11am routine. We both did a bit with Liv, and I cuddled her for a bit longer today because it was her FIRST TIME CUDDLING!!!!!!! While I had my extended Kangaroo care time with Liv, Brandon started with Jack and cuddled him for his 30mins or so. Then we both helped out with Miss Clara and I did more Kangaroo care with her. Hoping all this skin-to-skin will help my milk supply. Then I came back to my room to pump again and eat lunch/take some pain meds. It'll be a little easier when I am in charge of my own care (meds, schedule, activity, etc.). That way I can come to the NICU and stay most of the day and get 3-4 hands on times with them each day. Ill be able to pump and eat here at the hospital in between care times {and just take some naps in the NICU waiting area}. I'll probably sleep most nights at home and wake up to pump and call in overnight to see how they are doing (got that idea from a friend who's helping me get on a good schedule for when they come home!) Brandon and I are going to need all the rest and recuperation we can get before they are home with us for good!!!

AND WE CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT DAY!!!!!

So, I'm sure most people have seen the FLOOD of photos on my Facebook of these sweet baby angels of ours. But, in case you live under a rock in the Antarctic (or Ice rock i guess...glacier...whatever) or we aren't Facebook friends, let me share with you these amazing photos our newborn photographer Deanna Decker from Deanna Decker Photography took. She came the day they were born and the next to get some with me and Brandon. She will also do their "posed" newborn portraits when they come home. But, these are some seriously amazing shots of their first few days of life. I cannot tell you how grateful I am with how flexible she's been for us!!! She was basically "on call" all night and day until I delivered! We've had a few false alarms, as ya'll know, and she's been so amazing with it all. So here are our beautiful babies:

Our Big Man, Jack.
He LOVES scooting on his belly and dangling his legs off the end of his blanket roll.

Feisty Miss Clara.
She loves every little bit of attention she can possibly get at any time & when she lays on her back her legs are CONSTANTLY in motion.

Our Little Cuddler, Olivia.
She may be the youngest and the smallest, but she's fought the hardest these last few days to catch up & BOY does she like to nuzzle in Mama's neck.

My sweet peas all tuckered out from being so cute all day long. It's hard work! But, somebody's gotta do it.

I've always wondered what that feeling would be like when Parents describe their "immediate love and connection with their children from the moment they are born." I finally have that x3 and I cannot describe to you how full I am with love. (and holy hormones. I just started balling typing this.) They are so amazing, changing everyday, getting stronger & hungrier for life!! I cannot wait for all of our family and friends to get a chance to meet and love on these kiddos. They are so lucky to be welcomed into such a loving group of people ready to welcome them with open arms!

Thought this would be an interesting comparison to finish off the blog post with... Last pregnancy shot/first postpartum shot.

Time to go love on my littles some more. Keep the love and motivation coming! I love hearing from everyone!
